Restructuring in Europe: 27 National Seminars

To help spread knowledge concerning restructuring, the European Commission recently launched a new initiative for disseminating the lessons learnt from measures taken in EU member states to anticipate and manage restructuring at the national, regional, and local levels, and in specific economic sectors.

The project aims to prepare country background papers on restructuring, to be discussed at national seminars in each of the 27 countries in the European Union. The total duration of the project is 21 months, starting from 22 December 2008. The project will finish its activities in September 2010. In 2010, a synthesis report will be produced for the purposes of drawing together the important lessons learnt about anticipating and managing restructuring in Europe.

The initiative is commissioned by the European Commission, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, in the framework of the contract called “Restructuring in Europe: 27 national seminars”.

The national seminar on Cyprus took place at Hilton Park Hotel, Nicosia, on Thursday 19 November 2009. Coordinators at the round table discussion were Dr Andreas Efstathiades, Dean of the Business School and Dr Athanasios Hadjimanolis Chairperson of the Department of Marketing and Management
